3-D Modeling and Printing

Picture
For this project, we are going to learn how to use a 3D modeling program, Tinkercad.  Tinkercad is free, and you can save your projects both in progress as well as completed files for printing.  Tinkercad has a lot of built in tutorials so you can learn how to use the program!

https://www.tinkercad.com

Other programs you can use:

SculptGL

Sculpt GL is a program that starts with a ball of clay, and you can use your mouse to add or subtract clay.

Uploading to your website

There are several ways you can share your project on your website.  First, upload the .stl or .obj file, using the file button.
Then, you can either capture an Image off Tinkercad and upload that (see the pics above), or you can embed a 3D Image that viewers can rotate.
To embed your model onto your website so it is moveable, you have a couple of choices.  On the left here is an embed using Vectary - go to:
https://www.vectary.com/
and sign up for a free account (I signed up with google so I didn't have to think much about it):
1. Click on "Start Creating"
2. Menu>Import - add your .stl file
3. Fit
4. Viewer (upper right corner)>Generate button
5. Click on copy to clipboard (bottom right)
6. Go to your weebly page, drag anEmbed Code to your page.
7. Click on Edit HMTL, paste your code

File Type: stl
Download File

To use a free online viewer:

1.upload your .stl file to your website (like above).
2. Publish your page.
3. copy the link address to your file

4. Go to www.viewstl.com/embed/
5. Paste the URL to your file
6.  Choose the size (I unclicked on max size, and entered 500 for each )
7. choose a color
8. Unselect rotate unless you like it
9. choose the view (I chose bottom)
10.  copy the embed code and paste it into an embed code
box on your weebly page.
