How to post an article and start a discussion!

You need to add a new page to your website - do that by going to Pages on the top tabs, then add a blog.  Adding a blog allows everyone to comment on your post.  Name your blog "Article Discussion" or something like that so people know what page to go to.  You can delete the "first post" (its on the right, click on delete), and then create a new post.  Remember also to fill out the "Author" information!

For your article:
To add a picture, be sure to drag one of the basic elements down (I used Paragraph with Picture below here).  I linked to a picture on the article, or you can add a picture from somewhere else.  I copied the first paragraph of the article as a bit of a teaser.  You could also write a short paragraph with an explanation of what the article is about so everyone will be able to decide if they want to read it.  Be sure to include a link to the original article.

Each student will have a time when they are supposed to post an article.  On the weeks you are NOT posting an article, you'll be reading the articles that other students have posted, and you must comment on 2 articles.  Read the comments that other students have left, and you can start or continue a conversation.

This is a really interesting discussion on using teacher samples -- some pros and cons.  What do you think?

    Articles Calendar/Schedule

This calendar lists when you are responsible for posting an article on your webpage.  Each week the students listed will give a short 5 minute talk about their article, a quick overview of what the article is about, show the link, and then pose a couple of questions to get a conversation started.

All other students each week should read the article and comment.  You will need a minimum of 15 comments on your article to get an A on this assignment.  You are not limited to having the people in the class comment on your article, you can get your friends to read and comment, too -- feel free to post a link on FB or any other social media.
